Privacy Policy for VeloFill
Last Updated: December 23, 2025
VeloFill is a browser extension designed to help you intelligently fill web forms. We are committed to user privacy and transparency. This policy outlines how VeloFill handles your data in compliance with Chrome Web Store policies.
1. Data We Handle
To fill a web form for you, VeloFill needs to process information from the web page. This includes:
- Web Page Content: The structure and content of the web form you want to fill. This may include personal and sensitive information if the form asks for it (e.g., name, email, address, etc.).
- Your Knowledge Base: The information you have saved in your local VeloFill knowledge base.
- Your Configuration: Your VeloFill settings, such as custom prompts and LLM provider details.
All this data is handled locally in your browser. We do not have a server, and we do not collect or store your data.
1.5. Error Reporting
VeloFill includes an optional error reporting feature to help us identify and fix bugs. This feature is completely optional and requires your explicit consent.
What we collect when you submit an error report:
- Technical details only: extension version, browser type, error category, number of form fields detected/filled, timestamp
- Any information you voluntarily provide: optional comment field, optional email address (only if you choose to provide it)
What we do NOT collect:
- Page URLs or website names
- Form content or field values
- Your personal information (unless you voluntarily provide email)
- Error messages or stack traces from your browser
- API keys or connection details
- Your IP address (we do not log or store IP addresses)
Email usage: If you provide your email address, it is used only to contact you about the specific error report you submitted (e.g., to request additional information or notify you when the issue is resolved). We will not use your email for marketing, newsletters, or any other purpose.
How it works:
- When an error occurs, you may see a popup asking if you want to report it
- Clicking “Send Report” is required - we never submit automatically
- You can dismiss the popup to skip reporting
- After 3 dismissals, popups are suppressed globally (configurable in settings)
- Error reporting can be completely disabled in extension options
All error reports are sent via HTTPS to our servers at velofill.com. We do not save or log IP addresses for any reports submitted.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used exclusively to provide and improve the core functionality of the extension, which is to fill web forms. Here’s how:
- The extension analyzes the form fields and your provided knowledge to construct a request to your chosen Large Language Model (LLM).
- This data is then used by the LLM to generate the appropriate content to fill the form.
We never use or transfer your data for advertising purposes.
3. Data Disclosure and Sharing
VeloFill does not share your data with any third party, except for the LLM provider that you configure. When you use the extension:
- Data from the web page and your knowledge base is sent directly from your browser to your chosen LLM provider (e.g., OpenAI, a local model, etc.).
- This transmission is subject to the privacy policy and terms of service of your LLM provider. We are not responsible for their data practices and strongly recommend you review their policies.
- Error Reporting Service: If you choose to submit an error report, technical diagnostic information is sent to our servers (
velofill.com/api/reports) via HTTPS. This is completely optional and requires your explicit consent through a popup dialog. We do not log or store your IP address. See Section 1.5 for details.
4. Security and Encryption
We require you to use a secure HTTPS connection for the LLM provider’s API endpoint. This ensures that the data transmitted between your browser and the LLM provider is encrypted. VeloFill does not store your API keys or other sensitive settings in a way that is accessible to us.
5. User Consent
By clicking the button to initiate form filling, you are giving your consent for VeloFill to collect the necessary data from the web page and your knowledge base and send it to your configured LLM provider for processing.
For error reporting, consent is obtained through a popup dialog that appears after certain errors. You must click “Send Report” to submit any information. You can dismiss the popup, disable error reporting in settings, or suppress popups after multiple dismissals.
6. Permissions
VeloFill requires the minimum necessary browser permissions to function. This includes accessing web page content to identify and fill forms, and using local storage to save your settings. These permissions are used only for the extension’s stated purpose.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the “Last Updated” date on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
8. Contact Us
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us via the Contact Page.
Any email address you provide in an error report is used only to communicate with you about that specific report. If you have general questions about VeloFill, please use the contact form instead.
9. Website Contact Form
If you submit a message through our website contact form, the submission is processed by a third‑party service (formsubmit.co). This is separate from how the browser extension handles your data. For details, see the formsubmit.co Privacy Policy.
